How to Determine Your Skin Type?

How to Determine Your Skin Type?

Don't worry if you're wondering, "How do I know my skin type?" We're here to help (no lengthy skin type quiz needed). You'll learn two simple methods for determining your skin type at home in this article. We'll also teach you about the distinguishing characteristics of each skin type and provide advice on how to manage your skin's specific requirements.

There are 5 basic skin types

  1. Oily skin

The production of sebum, the skin's natural oil, is higher than average in oily skin. Excess oiliness can make the skin look greasy or shiny, and it's frequently accompanied by skin problems like blackheads and enlarged pores. Because clogged pores are a major cause of breakouts, those with oily skin are more likely to experience them.

  1. Dry Skin
Dry skin is the polar opposite of oily skin, as it lacks sufficient oil. It may appear dull or tight, and severe dryness can cause cracking, flaking, or peeling. Dehydration and dry skin are often confused, but they're not the same thing—dehydration is a lack of water, and it can affect anyone, regardless of skin type.

  2. Combination Skin

  1. Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin has an increased sensitivity to stressors, including some skincare products. Some people only experience mild irritation when exposed to stressors, while others suffer from redness, itching, and discomfort on a regular basis. Sensitivity, on the other hand, isn't always visible—sometimes it's just about how your skin feels.

  1. Normal Skin
This skin type shows no skin concern and does not get triggered by unique skincare ingredients.

So how do you find out your skin type?

Bare Face Observation

Use our Goats Milk Soap to cleanse your face. This soap is suitable for all skin types; including sensitive skin. Pat your face dry and do not use any other products.  After 25-30 minutes, observe your skin—both how it looks and how it feels. If it feels tight, dry, and uncomfortable, you probably have dry skin, while those with excessive shine typically fall into the oily skin category. If your skin exhibits both oily and dry areas, you likely have combination skin. Irritation indicates sensitivity and having none of these concerns probably means you’re blessed with normal skin (congratulations!).
